“We are moving our retail space shortly down the block to 171 Montgomery Street (the former location of the Montgomery Street Market). We will have more room, a wonderful, bright space and free parking close by. We expect to open at our new retail location on May 1, 2024. We will also be opening a family and dog friendly bar that will serve nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages and snacks at 44 Church Street, the former Frog’s Leap Public House. We will keep you updated on the opening date for the dog bar. We recognize that you are sorry to say goodbye to one of Western NC’s finest restaurants, but hope our new venture will help make up for that. We are grateful to the former owners of Frogs Leap Public House, Toni and Chef Kaighn Raymond for welcoming us to our new space and are looking forward to working with Chef Kaighn to get our dog bar open. We hope to bring Chef Kaighn back for some special events in the future. Stay tuned!”

Toni and I are proud of all that we achieved over our 13 years in this location and wish all our friends a fond farewell from FLPH. Thank you for your love, we hope you know we loved you as well. We plan to work with SMDB on the new bar and special events down the road, so keep an eye out!

Spring & Change Are In The Air

Dear Friends,

     It has been a while since we last communicated with you and we thank you for your patience. To the many friends who have reached out to support us recently, thank you! We are now ready to share our plans for the future of Frogs Leap Public House.

     First, It has been a pleasure to be part of this vibrant town, personally and professionally since 2003, we call it home now. But, Toni and I have past reached the age where we intended to reduce our hours at the restaurant and slow down a little.

    Thanks to our many friends and a few dedicated staff members, we survived these past hard years and we feel very positive about the future of our town and restaurant. However, we have decided that it would be best for us if we continue our retirement process as planned.

     At this time, we do not plan to open Frogs Leap Public House for our regular schedule or do a la carte dinner service this upcoming season. We plan to enjoy some personal time this summer and to advance our plans for our future. We will be open for a few special public events this summer and we are available for private events.

        FLPH will be available for private events this season, we have limited staff and capabilities, so event size and options will be limited. We are currently accepting applications for private events on specific dates in May, June and July. There will be additional information coming to our website and social forums soon. We have limited availability for both onsite and offsite events. Please reach out to us at 828.456.1930 to reserve your dates or seats before we are full for the upcoming season. The restaurant is also available to rent as an event space this summer.

     In addition to these plans, we are beginning to search for the right ownership group or individual to lead FLPH into the future. This unique turnkey opportunity is available for the upcoming season. We request that all inquiries are directed to:

     Finally, we would like to announce the birth of our next venture: The Cutting Edge: Hospitality Consultants. This fledgling company will provide an array of services aimed at helping hospitality businesses navigate the many challenges of our industry: from profit and loss analysis to operational system control and creation. Thanksgiving is early for us here at FLPH! It has been a really tough couple years, and we are still struggling every day. These times make us reflect on our blessings as well, of which we have many. Thanks go first to our fantastic team, we have only a few employees left, but they are the best! We love you! Next, to our dedicated friends, family and decade long regular diners. We know we have been far from our own expectations for these past months and we thank you for your patience and generosity. We hope to find more staff and return to our full menu, and we hope that prices will start to fall. The combination of no staff and high costs have been damaging, we thank you once again for spending more to help us survive. We will. We do not know what the future will require from us anymore but we do know that we will adjust and overcome. We are still striving and are still recognized on the open table charts as the #2 best overall restaurant and #1 for for foodies in the region. Thank You All! It has been a very challenging time for us but things are looking up! We have added a couple warm and professional new team members, come say hi to our new bartender Nick and our new server Melissa. We had a great week and will do our best to continue on our regular schedule Tuesday to Saturday 5 to 9. We will still have a limited a la carte menu, posted on our website. We also must thank all our generous and kind friends and guests who have dined with us lately. We are here because of you and thanks to you we are still at the top of the charts on Open Table! We will be able to offer a small a la carte menu on our normal schedule this week, 8/7: we will be open Tuesday to Saturday 5-9 pm. In addition, we will also have a unique, five course, small plate “chef’s menu” available on weekends or by request. Please make your request when making your reservation. We have news! This will be our last week on this limited schedule! We are still seriously short staffed but we plan to open on our regular schedule next week: Starting Tuesday 8/9 we will be open 5-9 Tuesday to Saturday. We will offer a small, a la carte menu all week and also a five course small plate, chef’s menu on weekends or by request. We hope to continue with this concept for at least the rest of this year as we try to add to our staff.
